Pistons To Re-Sign Bynum

The Pistons have agreed to terms with restricted free agent guard Will Bynum, who will sign a three-year contract reportedly worth $10.5 million.

Bynum is expected to continue coming off the bench to spell starting point guard Rodney Stuckey. The Pistons also have rookie Terrico White at that position but could opt to either re-sign free agent Chucky Atkins or another veteran.

GREG MONROE UNDERGOES SUCCESSFUL SURGICAL PROCEDURE

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The Detroit Pistons announced today that Greg Monroe underwent a successful out-patient surgical procedure on his right foot performed by Dr. Arthur Manoli. The procedure was performed at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, MI.

Rehabilitation will begin immediately and he is expected to resume full basketball activities in three to four weeks.

The 6-foot-11 forward/center appeared in five games for the Pistons during the Vegas Summer League and averaged 14.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.8 steals in 30.3 minutes per game. The Georgetown product was drafted by Detroit with the seventh pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.

Pistons Agree To Terms With Wallace

The Pistons have agreed to re-sign free agent Ben Wallace to a two-year deal worth approx. $4 million.

Wallace plans to eventually retire in Detroit. He's currently penciled in as the team's starting center, though he could move to the bench in favor of rookie Greg Monroe. It's also likely the Pistons will look to trade for another veteran center during this offseason.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The following statement was released this evening by President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars.

“In response to today’s media reports regarding the New Jersey Nets, I can say that I do not have any interest in a basketball operations position with the Nets. My priority is to continue leading the Pistons’ basketball operations efforts and putting together a team that is ready to compete and get back on track next season.”
